Note Taking Strategies

When we learning in the classroom, there's many percentage that our attention lost and maybe we are not focus in the class. For making sure we got all the knowledge that given by lecturer, we must take a notes of what we hear. There's so many way to take notes. Some people prefer writing and some people prefer picture.
Let's begin !

First of all. WHY WE TAKE NOTES?

-Helps us to pay attention in class
-Helps us study for quiz/exams
-Helps us improve our memory
-Helps us take ownership of ideas
-Helps us engage our senses
-Helps us organize and process data and information
-Helps the lecturer test students on how well captured.

Then, WHY REVIEW NOTES ?

-We lose 80% of what we hear
-Identify any questions for peers, the next class
-There is not enough time to absorb all the info in class
- "TAKE TIME EVERYDAY" to review note!

Next, WHY RECAPTURE ?

-Reinforcing information
-Better than re-copying
-This time, you are digesting & rephrasing.

How do we takes note ?
  • Date & label notes
  • Space to write
  • Use abreations and symbols
  • Use our own language
  • Use an outline to show :
                     -Main ideas, supports, examples

Extra tips :

Prepare for class..
  • Do pre-reading and homework
  • Review syllabus
  • Preview previous data
  • Search keywords
  • Listening 80% of the time
  • Write the dates, leave space so you can add info
